ALEX XU
PI
Prof. Xu is interested in all things spatial biology: the clinical problems that can be tackled with spatial methods, the enabling technologies, and the bioinformatic analysis of spatial data

Likes: Peanut, his pet rabbit; playing orchestra music (viola), good maps in fantasy books, competitive cooking TV shows

Less likes: listening to orchestra music (most), overly sweet desserts, loud noises

Dislikes: few and far between
Picture
KATHLEEN TRANG
BIOE PHD

Kathleen is interested in using spatial biology to develop biomarkers to identify disease-states and to improve our understanding of disease timescale under the lens of spatial proteomics.

Likes: roguelike video games, photography, articles of clothing with legitimately good pockets, resource-management board games

Less likes: UIs with no dark mode options (but I can forgive good design... Sometimes), party board games

Dislikes: light mode, lego sets with missing pieces
Picture
TIANFENG MIAO
BIOE PHD

Tianfeng is interested in applying spatial methods to solve biological problems, including immune-host cell interactions in tissues, tumor microenvironments, and treatment prediction. He currently focuses on spatially resolving heart xenograft tissue, which can provide insights for improving xenograft transplantation.

Likes: Badminton, Video games, Science fiction

Dislikes: Hot weather, Overcrowded places
Picture
SAVANNAH PHILLIPS
UNDERGRAD
Savannah is interested in the intersection of bioengineering and programming in spatial analysis for the development of spatially-informed therapeutics.

Likes: guitar, skiing, rock music, hiking, concerts, birds, exploring cities, socks, my dog Denali

Less likes: none (strong opinions on everything)

Dislikes: people who don't hold the door, mission impossible 7, coconut, whispering, inauthenticity, sweet popcorn
Picture
SRIHAN POTHAPRAGADA
UNDERGRAD
Interested in clinical research. Exploring biomarkers and specific staining patterns in neuroendocrine tumors (NETS), how severe they are, what cell types are relevant to NETS, and the proteins used to study NETS in order to test them on brain tissue.

Likes: Winning chess games, going on runs, hanging out with friends, burritos from Taco Bell, playing sax, reading manga

Less likes: Drawing chess games

Dislikes: Losing chess games, large crowds
Picture
ANUSHKA PODDAR
UNDERGRAD
Anushka enjoys applying computational approaches to study and answer biological questions. She is interested in leveraging spatial omics data to understand the underlying mechanisms of diseases.

Likes: dancing, geography games, ice-cream, crossword puzzles, being outside, playing guitar

Less likes: cold weather, chocolate-flavored things, neon colors

Dislikes: double-parkers, crumbs, unreliability, rain
Picture
RACHEL FURGE
BIOPHYSICS PHD

Rachel’s research interest focuses on applying principles from physics and chemistry to biological systems, aiming to model how interacting networks shape temporal dynamics.

Likes: Kirby, Star Wars, back country camping, good world building (in any media), birds

Less Likes: Unripe avocados, perfect blue skies

Dislikes: waiting in long lines, burnt tongue, singing in public

Picture
JASPER FLINT
BIOE MD/PHD
Jasper is interested in the application of spatial OMICs to biological questions of clinical relevance.

Likes: strategy games, snowboarding, hiking, French cheeses, classic cars

Less likes: pickleball, modern board games

Dislikes: e-sports games, jeans

Picture
DANIEL PINTARD
UNDERGRAD

Daniel is interested in analyzing spatial transcriptomics data to further our understanding of High-Grade Serous Ovarian Carcinoma (HGSOC).

Likes: anime, EDM, reading, being in nature, Caribbean cuisine

Less likes: fast food,  jazz, parties

Dislikes: olives, overstimulating environments/people, loud chewing sounds
Picture
JUNHAN KIM
BISI ROTATION
Junhan is interested in using spatial multi-omics data and computational methods to address complex biomedical questions.

Likes: Cooking authentic Korean food, eye shopping on both Newegg and Home Depot, ice cream

Dislikes: Standing in line, waiting on hold during phone calls, anti-consumer products
