Research

we're interested in spatial biology: By resolving how cells organize and interact, we can better predict patient outcomes and propose novel therapies in cancer and other diseases

Location, Location, Location

The positions and interactions of cells guide their behavior, in health and disease. Our goal is to use highly multiplexed imaging techniques to discover and more importantly, quantify spatial patterns in cancer and other contexts.
This website is not quite finished, please enjoy these stock photos of pets in the meantime.

SPatial Analysis

Highly multiplexed spatial analysis lays out the molecular composition of tissue, allowing us to identify single cells by their protein and RNA expression, and reconstruct the complex microenvironments of cancer and other diseases.

Biomarker
Predictors

The way cells organize in space foretells the way they communicate. Just as individual cells can be bringers of good or bad fortune in disease, spatial cellular structures have predictive power. Our goal is to measure these features at high resolution and translate them into clinical assays that will improve patient care.

Spatially-Guided Therapies

Picture
Cancer immunotherapy works with the right cells at the right place and the right time. We can unleash immune cell functions, increase cell survival in harsh tumor microenvironments, and engineer and expand immune cells exponentially for therapy. These strategies still fail for the majority of patients. Using spatial data, we can propose therapies to control the spatial organization, and outcomes, of cells in tissue.
